5th September 2025 – (Hong Kong) In Tseung Kwan O, a 19-year-old woman was arrested this afternoon (5th September) for allegedly attempting to exchange counterfeit money. The incident occurred around 1.30pm at a currency exchange shop on the first floor of Choi Ming Shopping Centre, where a 61-year-old female employee reported the matter to the police.
According to reports, the young woman attempted to exchange two HK$1,000 notes and one HK$500 note for Chinese yuan. The counterfeit notes, resembling the design of Standard Chartered Bank currency, were found to bear the word “Zimbabwe,” prompting the shop to alert the authorities. The police are currently investigating the incident.
