24th July 2025 – (Hong Kong) At 4.38pm today, a 23-year-old female staff member, Ms Ng, from Ling’s Limited, a money exchange shop on 608 Nathan Road, Mong Kok, reported a suspected scam to the police. The employee claimed that a man had earlier exchanged HK$18,000 for RMB 16,000. Upon closer inspection, she discovered that the banknotes received were not entirely HK$1,000 “golden bull” notes as expected but included HK$100 and HK$20 notes, with a total value of only HK$3,000.
Police arrived at the scene and classified the case as “fraud.” After reviewing surveillance footage, authorities are now searching for the suspect, described as approximately 50 years old, wearing a grey cap, white shirt, dark trousers, light-coloured sneakers, and carrying a maroon crossbody bag along with a black plastic bag.
